In 2009 the City of Portland initiated a major update to the City's comprehensive plan—the Portland Plan—which is scheduled to be completed in early 2012. Community Health Partnership: Oregon's Public Health Institute is leading collaborative efforts to ensure that healthy people and healthy communities are a strong component of this planning effort. The Healthy Portland Plan Workgroup meets as needed to provide expertise and assistance to City staff responsible for the update, and generate wide–spread support and involvement from a variety of stakeholders committed to achieving healthy communities for all Portland residents. The resources below provide general information on the connection between comprehensive plans and health, tools for public health partners to work collaboratively with planners, and documents specific to the efforts of the Healthy Portland Plan Workgroup. For more information on the Healthy Portland Plan Workgroup, contact Noelle Dobson at 503-227-5502, x224 or noelle@communityhealthpartnership.org.
