Harold Goldstein, DrPH

Harold Goldstein, DrPH, is the Executive Director of the California Center for Public Health Advocacy. He has received top awards from multiple organizations including the UCLA School of Public Health Hall of Fame (2003) and the Award for Excellence from the American Public Health Association, Committee on Affiliates (2001).  Harold currently serves on the California Public Schools Superintendent’s Advisory Committee on Obesity, Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease and is a former Executive Board Member/Action Board Chair at APHA.  Previously, Harold served as Executive Director of the Southern California Public Health Association and as Director of Health Promotion Initiatives for the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services.

Dr. Goldstein described the role advocacy plays in creating effective public health policy to improve health. He drew from recent efforts in California and implications for this work throughout the country.
