Eligibility Information

Foster Scholarship

Career field: Public health career (not private practice)

Preference:

• Applicants from diverse cultures;
• Persons working, or graduate students majoring, in public health;
• Undergraduates entering junior/senior-year health programs (e.g., nursing, medical technology, physician assistant).

Colleges:

• Attendees of a four-year colleges;
• Students pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Public Health at OHSU.

Enrollment: Must enroll at least half time

Apply-compete annually

Essay: Respond to these questions:

1. What does "public health" mean to you?
2. How does this field differ from other health and medicine fields?
3. What public health aspect do you intend to practice and what are the health/population issues impacted by that aspect?
4. How do your education and volunteer/work choices prepare you for your vocation?
5. What project or other personal participation in public health have you completed or are involved with that you are most proud about?
6. Describe the purpose and desired outcomes of the endeavor, as well as your role in it.
